Here is the first of many!

We received a call today from a client who had their oil tank removed by another residential oil tank contractor. This contractor removed the oil tank last Wed and had the tank inspected the same day. One pin hole was discovered and the client didn't see any stained soils or soils with an odor during the removal but the company called in a case #.

The next day, they called the homeowner and told them the lab results came back at 2600ppm and sent them a quote for $8500.00 to remediate the soils.

Tank Tip #1 - They didn't provide the lab results to the homeowner, just gave them a verbal. There is no way they received the results in 24 hours unless they paid for a RUSH from the lab (VERY UNLIKELY) So they essentially lied to the client and said the results were 2600 without any lab work to back it up! THIS IS A HUGE RED FLAG!

Even if they had lab results, 2600 ppm doesn't require a soil remediation. You can keep any soils below 5,100ppm in the ground!

Tank Tip #1 - If your soil results from the lab are below 5,100ppm, a soil remediation is not required!
